“When The Mute Get Lucid #1 was just us, Loosehead, and we used that to model the idea. We were soon joined by Cowcatcher, Scote and Svelte, later Diecast and The Offbeats. We planned on releasing a Geraldine lathe cut 8″ on a monthly/ 6 weekly rotation. We had some idea that if we rostered it a certain way then each band would have the opportunity to release music on every second release, that was the plan anyway, as a way to get local music out there again and spread a bit of the DIY love. We shared the art duties, and Grant Sutherland did a wonderful job designing and putting all of it together. By #5 we started to connect with local illustrators as well, using the collective profile in pre-internet days to up everyone’s game. I picked the name “When the Mute get Lucid” it comes from a wonderful Julian Cope song.”
