Nullpolitik were a short-lived d-beat raw punk band from Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. They formed in 2024 after the end of Simon (vocals) and Matai’s (drums) previous band, Skitkrimes, adding Lex on bass and Ezra on guitar. The band mixed Swedish ’80s hardcore punk with Japanese noise punk producing a sound that has been compared to Destruct, Physique and Brain Pollution Syndrome, with the vocal style of Skitklass over the top with Simon’s vocals belted out in German and Swiss.
Nullpolitik played their first show on 6 April 2024 at Thistle Hall in Wellington, an all-ages Start Today Crew bill with Stress Ghetto, Unlawful Arise and Martial Law. The following month they recorded a bunch of demos and demos with some Shitlickers and Totalitar covers. These were released as the “Probe Demo” tape at Destroy Napier festival in early June.
Despite the early momentum, Nullpolitik split soon after with Matai, Lex and Simon going on to form the grindcore band Maced. In July 2025 the demo got a second release as a self-titled tape and download through Limbless Music and Razored Raw.
