Intoxo was a short-lived but energetic punk band from Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), New Zealand, active from 2022 to 2023. Intoxo brought together four experienced musicians from Wellington’s tight-knit DIY and underground scene. Vocalist Selina and bassist Kitt had recently played together in the short-lived group Hair Brains, with Kitt also known from earlier bands like Ayn Randy and Ritalin. Guitarist Sam and drummer Ben brought the ‘shoeless recession-core’ vibe to the band with over a decade in the Wellington d-beat outfit Rogernomix.

Intoxo made their live debut at Nevermind the Punkfests, held at Newtown Sports Bar during Labour Weekend 2022, quickly establishing themselves in the local punk circuit with their raw, fast-paced sound rooted in d-beat punk.

The band played a handful of shows over the next year, including some DIY shows: the Berhampore warehouse and Princess Bay carpark inside a trailer. Their final performance came at Dankfest at The Crown in August 2023. Shortly after, the band split when Selina moved overseas and Kitt relocated to Dunedin, bringing the project to an end after just over a year.
