No Sector

No Sector is a Wellington punk band formed in 2024, made up of Caroline (vocals), Ciaran (guitar), Leo (bass) and Matai (drums). They began as a studio project, with Caroline on vocals and Matt playing every instrument. Those recordings became the five-song tape Demo 1984=2024, released in June 2024, which they described as resentful and bitter outbursts of frustration about dystopian life in the 2020s. It was co-released by local labels Razored Raw and Limbless Music. Ciaran and Leo then joined, and the band made their live debut at Neil Roberts Day on 23 November 2024.

Their sound mixes UK82 punk with the playful catchiness of 1980s and 90s Japanese noise-punk, drawing comparisons to The Swanky’s and Chaos Channel. Caroline’s manic, “mercury poisoned” delivery sits at the centre of it, somewhere between singing and speaking. They played a run of gigs in early 2025, including opening for GBH and Flatliners, and often play benefits for social justice causes, particularly Palestine aid fundraisers.

In June 2025 they released the Mercury Poisoning EP on 7″, a joint release between Australia’s R.I.P Peace and drummer Matt’s own label, Razored Raw. A split 7″ with Canadian band Peracetic followed in August 2025 co-released with Sewercide Records. In October 2025 the band played three nights in Melbourne at the Deafening Raw Assault festival.
