Shit The Bed were a short-lived but sharp-edged Oi punk band out of Newtown, Wellington, active across 2007- 2008. The band featured Blair Jones on guitar, Cam Parker on bass, Ryan Fouhy on drums, and Dave Brown handling vocals. Loud, blunt and deliberately antagonistic, Shit The Bed delivered street-level punk with no time for polish or pretence.
Jones brought experience from earlier outfits including Deaf Terrorists, Padded Cell and V.B.F., and that background fed into the band’s no-frills sound and confrontational attitude. In October 2007, Shit The Bed released a four-song demo EP that captured their ethos perfectly, with tracks like Fuck Off Government, Oi Fuck Off Long Intros, Fucked Up Punks and Burn Your Fucking Television.
That same month they appeared at Punkfest, and in February 2008 played alongside the mr sterile Assembly, The Feminazis and Coexister, before calling it quits soon after. Following the split, Cam Parker, Blair Jones and Ryan Fouhy went on to form the Adam Smith Assassination with Ken Simpson (Dead Vicious) and Jesse Larsen, taking the raw energy of Shit The Bed into a new, more enduring project.
