We made Children as our swan-song EP in 2009; five songs recorded, mixed and mastered by Tim Shann at Garrett Street in Wellington, with mine and Kalem’s old friend Ben Ward (Old Loaves) playing guitar in place of James, who left after a particularly awful gig at Happy one night.
At this point we were all busy with other things; lives and careers and other bands etc, and the release didn’t get anywhere near the effort it needed nor deserved from us. I think we released maybe 50 of them in physical form – a brown envelope with a breakup letter, lyric broadsides and a CDR – and again online for free. No fanfare, no promotion, no touring for that one. A shame really, since it was our best work, I hope.
