The Good \u2019Ole\u2019 Boys were a Wellington-based country-punk band active in the early 1990s, blending beer-soaked twang with the confrontational spirit of the local punk underground. The four-piece was a side project for Steve Andrews and Dragan Stojanovic, both also members of notorious punk rabble-rousers Vas Deferens<\/a><\/strong>, and it carried the same irreverent, anything-could-happen energy, just filtered through cowboy chords and cow-punk attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band was sparked by Andrews\u2019 exposure to Australian cow-punk outfit The Johnnys<\/a><\/strong>, who played Wellington several times between 1985 and 1988 and left a lasting impression. The Good \u2019Ole\u2019 Boys went on to play alongside bands like Vas Deferens, Flesh D-Vice<\/a><\/strong>, and T.A.B<\/a><\/strong>, tearing up venues such as the Clarendon Tavern<\/strong> and Paisley Park<\/strong>, and were known to cause a ruckus busking in Manners Mall. Equal parts homage and piss-take, The Good \u2019Ole\u2019 Boys occupied a rowdy corner of Wellington\u2019s early \u201990s live circuit where punk, country, and chaos happily collided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
