Capitol Kaos is a live compilation LP recorded on April 2, 1983, at the infamous Golden Showers festival in Newtown, Wellington. Recorded by John Void of anti-Springbok tour band Riot 111 the 12″ features 10 other bands from this seminal 1980’s punk gathering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nGreat. I mean really, after all the festive spirit and suchlike all this record does is douse my appetite. Someone’s gonna pay you churlish bunch of miscreants. Anyway, I’m going to tell you that it’s a live recording of punk bands done in Wellington and featuring big daddies like No Tag, Riot 111 and Ist XV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course the recording is typically haphazard but fortunately you still get to hear a lot of nasty subversive words thrown in. Like it must have been phlegm city, y’know? It’s Ist XV who capture the imagination the most with their strident Fallish overtones; they really are something special among this lot. But there are other worthies, notably the sublimely sloppy Ayrian Army, Riot Ill’s “Move To Riot’ and Final Solution. Those are the good ‘uns. The rest were played by lumbago-laden old men with tonal deficiency and a sense of time-warp gone totally beserk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
