Forced Starvation are a four-piece grindcore band from Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, forging an old-school, crust-leaning take on 1990s grind. Formed in 2022, the band grew out of guitarist Sam Thurston and drummer Dan Fraser’s shared obsession with the raw intensity of acts like Assück, Phobia, Heresy, Insect Warfare, and Brutal Truth. The band’s music channels that lineage into short, violent bursts of sound, while lyrically exploring the brutality of human behaviour and its destructive impact on people and the environment.
