The Flash Harry’s are a no-fucks-given punk band from Wellington that formed in 2018. Originally a three-piece, the band was founded by PGA Ray (bass/vocals) and Ricky Rock (drums), with Dirty on bass for their early shows. They played their first gig in February 2018. After Dirty’s departure around 2020, Simon Gotlieb joined on guitar, allowing PGA Ray to shift fully to bass and lead vocals. In 2021 the line-up expanded to a four-piece when Mattman joined on bass, cementing the current rhythm section.

Known for their crass, non-politically correct lyrics, The Flash Harry’s describe their music as “spunk rock”. Crude sexually ‘inappropriate’ songs sung by three old-school punks going through a mid-life crisis in the vein of the Bad Santa or Dirty Grandpa movies. Guitarist Simon Gotlieb has been active in the New Zealand punk scene since the early 1980 playing in Aftershock, Compos Mentis, T.A.B. and the reformed Vas Deferens, self-described as “sleazy coagulated scum”.

To date, The Flash Harry’s have released four EPs, including their 2018 debut A Little Bit Shit and the 2024 release Mr McSniff, and one full-length album, The Adventures of Harry Flange (2020). They have built a solid live reputation, supporting international punk heavyweights such as The Exploited, Descendents, Cockney Rejects, Dead Kennedys, and Speedball.
